Barrios Vera leaves no doubts

Tomás Barrios Vera was measured with Alejandro Hoyosinvited by the organization.

With the pressure on being the top seed, Barrios came out at the start and generated damage quickly. Emphasizing the construction of points and his first serves, the Chilean took his turn and broke the next one to go up 2-0. From there, and thanks to that mini-advantage, he chose not to be so aggressive and look for consistency. However, he continued to dominate the points and set the pace of the game. For his part, Hoyos couldn’t find a way around it. He ran from one side to the other, was forced to reach the balls and hit late. With several errors, he could not recover and gave up the first 6-3.

Already in the second, Tomás was aware that he had to close it as soon as possible and not speculate. Therefore, he raised his level, executed many winners and signed a difference of two breaks. Although the Colombian improved significantly, Barrios was on the rise and was a steamroller. As in the previous one, he sealed it with his serve 6-3, 6-2.

Taverna and Dellien look surprised

Santiago Rodríguez Taverna crashed with Alex Barrena.

Meetings between compatriots are never easy. And this is an example of that. Although Pilar’s team started ahead on the scoreboard, he was very irregular and gave in twice, just like his rival. When it seemed to be decided in the tie-break, Barrena showed solidity, freshness and won it 7-5. With the need to turn the score around, Taverna let loose, was aggressive and despite making a lot of mistakes, took the chances that were presented to him and took it 7-5. In the third, he was physically weak, he did not follow his essence or game plan and he lost it 5-7, 6-1 and 4-6.

Hugo Dellien he saw the faces with Eduardo RibeiroNo.348 in the ranking.

Despite his current status, the Bolivian was the clear favorite and the one who should dominate. However, Ribeiro broke from the start and held the lead until the end, although he had to escape several break points along the way. In the second, Dellien was able to settle in, organize his tactics and beat his rival. With good rallies, shots and aces, he claimed two breaks and closed it 6-2. When it was thought that the Bolivian was accelerating and it had been just a scare, Ribeiro made an effort, got the best of himself and broke to go up 3-1. From there, he was vastly superior and sealed the 6-3, 2-6 and 6-3.
