THE HAGUE (Holland) – Important international experience for the young athlete from Trevia Tommaso Fava who represented Italy at the European Junior Championships held in The Hague in Holland over the weekend.
The 19-year-old talent from Judo Kodokan Samurai Spello, fresh from his victory in Graz in the European Junior Cadet Cup in August, is among the top 16 young judokas on the continent in the 90 kg category.
On the Dutch tatami Tommaso overcame the Spaniard Aaron Santamaria Rodriguez in the first round, but then in the second round (round of 16) despite fighting on equal terms he was forced to give in against the Armenian Gor Karapetyan.
For the record, in the 90 kg the victory went to the Dutch Lars Van Oostrum who beat Vugar Talibov of Azerbaijan in the final. Bronze medal for the German Lasse Schriever and the Serbian Miljan Radulj.
The Dutch one was a dress rehearsal for the Umbrian athlete also in view of the U 21 World Championships which will be held from 4 to 10 October in Portonallo.
