Now call it “the home of the NFL in the UK”. The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, home of the great English football club, is now a very official venue for the great American League. Under the terms of a new partnership agreement announced this Thursday, at least two regular season NFL games will be played there each year until 2029-2030.
Two matches (Jacksonville-Buffalo and Baltimore-Tennessee) are scheduled there in October as part of the “NFL London Games”, and American footballers have largely made their mark in this stadium where twelve of the 23 NFL teams have already played.
€350 million in annual benefits
“The global development of our sport is a strategic priority for our League,” assures NFL boss Roger Goodell. Our engagement with Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will allow us to continue to bring an extraordinary ‘NFL experience’ to fans in London, while delivering social and economic impact on site. »
According to the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, the benefits of these matches are of the order of 300 million pounds sterling per year (around €350 million).
“Our partnership with the NFL is an integral part of our project for this stadium as a sports and entertainment destination in London,” underlines Daniel Levy, chairman of Tottenham. Creating additional recurring revenue to reinvest in our football activities is a key part of the club’s business model. »
