Uphill debut for Expo Inox in the West group of Serie C. Zanellati’s quintet was in fact defeated at the Parona stadium by Cerro Maggiore 68-79. The absence of the starting point guard Tonon, not yet fully recovered from his ankle injury and on the bench only for the honor of signing, clearly influenced the Lomellini match against a team coming from C Silver which was already well equipped and which during the summer has been strengthened with the addition of some valuable players.
The match was practically decided in the first quarter when the home team made many errors, facilitating Cerro’s extension (9-22). Expo Inox was thus forced into a difficult run-up which almost did not materialize in the last fraction. Coach Zanellati does not say he is disappointed with his team’s performance: “We were there in terms of mentality and defensive commitment, obviously we have to learn to limit mistakes. I believe that this initial slap will be useful to us so that we can work on our defects.” Two words also on the French big man Plomteux: “He comes from championships where he was more supportive of others, here he must learn to take on more responsibility, taking advantage of his height and dynamism.
