The investment group Kosmoschaired by the former player of the FC Barcelona Gerard Piqué, transformed the format of the Davis cup from 2019a year after having acquired the organizing rights for 25 years from the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
The popular duels at home and away from home no longer have a place. But the new format does not convince to the public and actors, and the ITF decided to break the contract at the beginning of 2023, although without modifying the format in the current season.
