Xabi Alonso Tipped to Succeed Carlo Ancelotti and Bring Florian Wirtz to Real Madrid

Xabi Alonso could succeed Carlo Ancelotti in the coming months. The Spanish technician already has an idea for a recruit in mind to complete the Real Madrid squad.

Carlo Ancelotti’s contract is set to end at the end of the season. The Italian technician will not extend, given that he is expected to take the lead of the Brazilian selection. And the result obtained against Atlético Madrid (1-3), a few days ago, tends to weaken its situation in the Spanish capital.

To succeed him, the name of Xabi Alonso seems to be unanimous. The former midfielder is currently in charge of Bayer Leverkusen, who are tied for first place in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich. Central defense confirms this trend, specifying that the Spaniard is slowly getting closer to Valdebebas. The media also communicates the name of a player who could accompany him to the White House.

A contract that runs until 2027

According to his information, Xabi Alonso could arrive with a member of his squad from Leverkusen. It would be Florian Wirtz, whose name has been mentioned at Barça in recent days. Aged 20, the German international plays as an attacking midfielder. This season, he has scored one goal and provided two assists in five Bundesliga appearances. The player also distinguished himself in the Europa League, with a goal and an assist in the only match he played. Recruiting him won’t be easy.

Transfer market estimates his value at 85 million euros, while his contract runs until June 2027. The amount of his transfer could thus be around, or even exceed, 100 million euros.

The 2024 summer transfer window could therefore be hectic for Real Madrid. After several seasons marked by a certain austerity, Florentino Perez could open the purse strings in order to provide his club with a squad capable of winning all competitions.
