Ten Hag can breathe a sigh of relief after his team came from behind against Brentford last weekend, but he knows the win is not a cure-all.
The international match means a two-week break before MU’s next match, against Sheffield United, a team that has never won so far this season.
Rather than rest on his laurels, Ten Hag knew he had to use his time wisely, and Mirror Football has looked at the five main priorities that the Dutch coach must address.

1. Decide the Jadon Sancho issue.
Sancho’s situation with Ten Hag has made a number of fans worried. The reason is, the English winger no longer has his place in the main squad.
More than a month on, it still seems there is no way back for the former Dortmund star. If that is the case then Ten Hag will need to work with the club to ensure Sancho is released in January, with Juventus and Dortmund both linked.
2. Plan a more solid back line
So far in 10 English Premier League and Champions League matches this season, Manchester United have only recorded two clean sheets. Last season’s third-place finish was due to defensive solidity, but that is less the case this season.
Injuries are clearly a factor, especially on the left side of the back four. However, with Lisandro Martinez out for some time and no return date set for Luke Shaw, Ten Hag will need a new plan.
This may require him to use a system that allowed Harry Maguire to thrive, just weeks after the centre-back looked ready to leave.
