The cadets and seniors of ASPTT Moulins started the sports season with a long trip to Charente-Maritime, to the national tournament in Rochefort.
Among the cadets, last Saturday, Gabin Maitre, in +90 kg, opened the medal counter for his club at the start of the season with third place. Norah Gosset and Adam Mercier, first year cadets, were unable to place but were combative.
The next day, the Azéma brothers represented the club as seniors. Bronze medalist at the French cadet championship 1st division and after a break of 4 years, the return to competition at the Rochefort tournament was positive for Alexis, who ranked 7th out of 38 entered. The young Moulinoise in the -60 kg category is satisfied with this result, he even found good sensations which bode well for future podiums.
As for Kévin Azéma, it’s a winning return to his original club. He won this national tournament by stringing together five victories by ippon and a quick final in less than 10 seconds. Logically named captain and head of the ASPTT Moulins senior group, Kévin’s objective, with a squad of 12 fighters, is to “obtain good results as a team and as individuals”.
To bring this sporting project to fruition, the ASPTT Moulins judo “hopes for financial aid, both from the city of Moulins and from other partners who want to support the club at the national level”.
