Atenas Prepares for Second Match Against San Isidro in Argentine Basketball League

Atenas took off the weight of the debut, but it will have the obligation throughout the entire season of the Argentine Basketball League. On this Monday night, starting at 8 p.m., Verde faces its second match. In a high-voltage Córdoba duel, the team led by Gustavo Peirone receives San Isidro from San Francisco at the Cerutti (can be seen on BasquetPass TV). The General Bustos neighborhood team was presented in the new category last Saturday with an 80-73 victory against Sportivo Suardi, while for “Sani” it will be the debut.

“The balance is very positive. Defensively we were very good. The only half bad thing is that in the last quarter they scored 30 points, but before that they scored 17, 15 and 12 (there were 11 in the third segment),” one of the figures from Atenas, José Montero, told Mundo D.

“We were doing great until the last quarter and we have to try to correct that. It was also a great defense. That’s why we are being a little more demanding because we want things to go well, but there is time to work, there is time to improve,” added the guard from Santiago.

Atenas proved to be more than Suardi at the start of the season seeking promotion and return to the National League, but that difference, technical and physical, was not fully reflected on the scoreboard and ended up suffering.

“We can have these bumps because we are a new team. What we have to do is work to make that pothole shorter or so that there are no potholes,” Montero explained.

Atenas could not count on American center Roquez Johnson in the debut due to a sprained ankle, but given the internal potential that San Isidro has, he will be tested before the match and will surely play his first minutes of the season. Also due to injury he did not play against Suardi Máximo Araujo.

For San Isidro, the match with Atenas will be its debut in the campaign and will face two players who came to Verde from San Francisco: Montero and Juan Cruz Oberto.
