Bryan Goonting-Chan Wen Tse and Kang Khai Xing-Carmen Ting Dominate in World Junior Championships Individual Tournament

PETALING JAYA: Shuttlers Bryan Goonting-Chan Wen Tse and Kang Khai Xing-Carmen Ting began their campaign in the individual tournament at the World Junior Championships with straightforward wins.

Just four days after winning bronze in the mixed team event, Bryan-Wen Tse claimed an easy 21-7, 21-5 victory over Ghana’s Andy Amofa-Moslena Adu in the first round in Spokane, Washington on Monday.

They should also have no problem beating Czech Republic’s Vid Koscak-Anja Blazina in the second round.

Khai Xing-Carmen also breezed past Slovakia’s Matus Polacek-Lea Vybochova 21-9, 21-11 and will play Holland’s Casper Spaans-Florine Wille next.

“The matches were not too demanding,” said Badminton Association of Malaysia acting development director Joanne Quay.

“However, the matches will be more challenging as they advance into the following rounds. The players are taking it one step at a time.”

Bryan and Carmen will also be playing in the men’s and women’s doubles with Aaron Tai and Ong Yin Yee respectively.
