The two youngest gave FC Bayern a lucky win: Jamal Musiala and Mathys Tel turned the game around at FC Copenhagen.
FC Copenhagen also demonstrated its home strength against FC Bayern Munich for a long time, but in the end the favorites emerged victorious: In the group game of the Champions League, the Munich team celebrated a happy 2-1 (0-0) win against the Danish champions.
Lukas Lerager (56th) took the surprising but deserved lead for FC Copenhagen. Thanks to goals from Jamal Musiala (67th) and Mathys Tel (83rd), Bayern not only defended their lead in Group A after the 4-3 win in the first game against Manchester United, but also extended their series of unbeaten games in the Increase group stage of the premier class to 36.
A lot of tension, little flow of the game in the first half
Bayern, for whom Leon Goretzka somewhat surprisingly initially had to sit on the bench, had an unexpectedly difficult time in front of 38,000 spectators in the atmospheric Parken Stadium and found no means of countering the home team’s massive defense. In total, the record champions managed five goals in the first half, just one more than FC Copenhagen.
They encountered some sleepy Munich residents with a high degree of aggression. Bayern had a slight advantage in terms of play in the first half, but initially couldn’t achieve anything worth counting against a strong defense.
Offside goal as a harbinger of Copenhagen’s strength
Jamal Musiala with the right (9th) and Joshua Kimmich with a long-range shot over the box (29th) had the best opportunities for the German record champions. Otherwise, the guests were too unimaginative and the last pass was too imprecise. On the other hand, Viktor Claesson caused the Munich team their first moment of shock. In the 28th minute he appeared free in front of FCB keeper Sven Ulreich and pushed the ball past the goal on the left – but the flag also went up in this scene – the attacker was just offside.
The FCB defense once again seemed unstable when put under pressure on terrain that wasn’t worthy of the Champions League. The 0-0 score at the break was definitely fair. But shortly after the change, the bell rang in the Bayern goal.
Youngster Musiala and Tel as match winners
The Danes got into Bayern’s penalty area with a nice direct game. Min-jae Kim was able to block Claessen’s first shot attempt, but in the follow-up shot Lerager dropped the ball into the left corner.
0:1 – Bayern had to digest that first, and while Thomas Müller was getting ready to come on, Jamal Musiala equalized with a strong individual performance: The national player got into a good shooting position in the penalty area against two opponents and hit the bottom right corner – 1:1 (67th).
Bayern now continued to increase the number of hits and also benefited from their top-class bench. Substitutes Thomas Müller and Mathys Tel almost single-handedly scored the winning goal, which ultimately ensured the somewhat fortunate victory.
