Chile Excluded from World Cup 2030 and Steps Back from Juntos 2030 Corporation

Chile stayed outside the World Cup 2030after FIFA made official that only Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay They will receive matches – symbolically – of the competition that will be played in seven years.

With no chance of hosting world-class matches, our country is beginning to resettle and think about how to recover from the hard blow received by the governing body of world football.

The first of them, is that the Government will stop participating in the Juntos 2030 Corporationan entity that was created jointly with the three aforementioned countries to bid for the World Cup in South America.

According to La Tercera, the measure will be adopted on November 30, when an extraordinary council will be held. “Chile cannot remain in this organization”Jaime Pizarro said in the quote, sports minister.

Due to the above, one of the issues that most worries the national authority is to have the economic issue. The Government deposited 184 thousand dollars to the Corporation, but with Chile now outside it, that amount must be returned to the State coffers.

Together 2030 also allocated $139,926 for operating expenses, which must be borne by the participants. Our country, for obvious reasons, will not respond when it comes to paying.

Argentina wanted Chile to pay for the 2030 World Cup

Matías LammensMinister of Sports of Argentina, did not agree with the above.

The former leader of San Lorenzo proposed that Chile, although it will not be part of the 2030 World Cup, will still pay for operating expenses.

“You have to be as honest as possible. See how much the expenses were generated, divide by four and that’s it.. As it is something that was born and died soon, it will be an expense that will be under scrutiny,” said Lammens.

“That is the proposal that seems the most reasonable to us. We are open to listening to others. Because of how it was born and ended quickly, it must be settled so that the accounts are clear for everyone. We have to be more careful than ever, everyone is going to be watching us,” added the Argentine authority.

His position, however, found no support. “On the Uruguayan side, we think that the other countries have to bear the expenses so that Chile is in a more comfortable position at the government level. “Uruguay has no problems dividing into three”said Sebastian BauzaMinister of Sports of Uruguay.

Cesar Ramirez, the highest sports authority in Paraguay, agreed with the Uruguayan: “In Paraguay we join Uruguay. It should be between three.”

Argentina had no choice but to accept, while Jaime Pizarro thanked his peers for their willingness and extended an invitation to the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games to settle any issue in doubt.
