If the American is better known for his roles in the cinema, he was nevertheless an accomplished sportsman, obtaining the title of world karate champion in his weight category from 1968 to 1974. A CV that impresses, and to which must be added several black belts in other disciplines such as Brazilian jiu-jitsu, taekwondo or even judo.
So many experiences enough to overcome Bruce Lee? In an interview given to Black Belt MagazineNorris answered the question: “would I have beaten Bruce Lee in a real competition, or not? You will forgive me for responding with another ‘Bruceism’: Bragging is the idea that fools have of fame“. A response which reflects all the confidence of the famous redhead in his ability to defeat his friend.

But the fight never happened. Apart from a duel against the world karate champion of the time, Bruce Lee, who died in Hong Kong in 1973, never really set foot in competition. A fact which should not take anything away from his legacy, as Chuck Norris said in an interview:
“Bruce and I never fought. Because that he didn’t need to compete in the competitive world. Bruce was already a star and he didn’t need to become a fighter to be famous. I did it because I needed it. He didn’t have to take this path. But if he had to do it, he would have extremely successful in the field of combat.”
