Seven days before the October doubleheader for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, the Colombian National Team finally submitted its squad list.

Against Uruguay and Ecuador the same base will be maintained, although with very important new features, such as the return of Diego Valoyes, Frank Fabra, Kevin Castaño, Kevin Mier, Yerson Mosquera and Yaser Asprilla or the new faces in defense of Willer Ditta and Cristian Borja.

The issue is that those eight who arrived to replace, among others, the injured Jhon Lucumi, Yerry Mina, Jefferson Lerma and Johan Mojica, ended up displacing other regulars who are conspicuous by their absence in this new call.

It is worth saying that Juan Guillermo Cuadrado and Juan Fernando Quintero are not there, although both are healthy and cleared. In the first case, it was commented from Italy that Inter Milan asked that he not be called up, because he is just recovering from tendinitis that he suffered in September, at the national training camp. Quintero (Racing), on the other hand, was left out due to technical consideration.

This is the same case with Devis Vásquez, youth goalkeeper for Sheffield Wednesday in England’s second division, and, even more surprising, Jhon Córdoba, scorer for Krasnodar and a great figure in the Russian League, who was on the first day of the Qualifiers. He comes from scoring a goal and providing an assist and was left out for the benefit of Valoyes… Anyway.

Falcao García did not return on this occasion either, although he has just returned to scoring after a year with Rayo Vallecano of Spain, nor were some called up at a good time such as Harold Preciado, scorer in Mexico, and Duván Zapata, undisputed starter in Torino from Italy.
