Controversy Strikes Young Footballer Enzo Sternal After Religious Message Celebration

At 16, Enzo Sternal made a name for himself with the OM youngsters, while also having selections with the French team and the categories of his age. But a few weeks ago, the Olympian hit the headlines, finding himself at the heart of a controversy following a religious message written on a t-shirt that he showed after scoring with the Blues. A gesture which earned Sternal a sanction from the FFF.

The Montaigu tournament is a prestigious tournament for young footballers. Last April, the greatest hopes had an appointment for this occasion with their respective national selections. Performing with OM, Enzo Sternal had then been called to play with theFrench U16 team. It was then that a controversy with the Olympian. Indeed, when celebrating a goal, Sternal lifted his jersey to reveal a t-shirt where the following religious message could be read: “Allah is great”.

This gesture ofEnzo Sternal then caused a lot of talk to the point of triggering a controversy. The reason ? A sanction imposed by the FFF against the playerABOUT. About the case Sternalhe then explained during the podcast The future belongs to them : “It’s last April, we’re in Montaigu, Enzo and one of his teammates, who plays goalkeeper, who are of two different faiths, wore a t-shirt with a message. The Federation, without officially communicating it, decided to sanction the two players by depriving them of several gatherings.”

“They are not banned for life from the French team”

“We called the Fed to be very clear, the Fed specifies that they have been sanctioned. They consider that the players of the French team do not have to carry any message of a political or religious nature. It is a one-off sanction. They are not banned for life from the France team,” continued Hugo Delom concerning this sanction imposed againstEnzo Sternal.
