Darmstadt Midfielder Causes Stir with Controversial Anti-Israel Post

The next professional shocks with a post about the brutal terrorist attack on Israel – albeit apparently unintentionally.

In the excitement surrounding controversial social media posts by Bundesliga players, Darmstadt midfielder Klaus Gjasula (33) is also causing a stir with an anti-Israel post.

Suspicion expressed on TV Why did Nagelsmann suddenly change his outfit?

The German-Albanian shared the post by nutritionist Mirna Sabbagh (@mirnasabbagh) from Dubai on Instagram. In an artfully created image, several children are stylized as angels rising from the smoking rubble of Gaza. Gjasula also posted three peace doves. The huge problem, however, is the anti-Israel text that accompanies the shared post. Not a word in it about the brutal terrorist attack by Hamas, in which more than 1,300 people were murdered and almost 200 people were kidnapped. Instead, the Israeli government, which defends its people from terror, is insulted. Israel would not carry out air strikes on terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip if Hamas had not attacked the Jewish state out of nowhere.

But: Gjasula apparently didn’t read the text at all!

The midfielder says to BILD: “I shared a picture of children soaring in angel wings and added three peace dove emojis to this drawing. This drawing symbolizes exactly the thoughts that I am currently carrying: I grieve for the many innocent children who cannot help the political tensions in the Middle East that have been going on for many decades. I didn’t read the text behind it at all, which makes me really sorry in retrospect.”

And further: “I am definitely not anti-Israel and do not want to take any side in the conflict. Anyone who has followed me on Instagram for a while knows how much I care about the well-being of children around the world. This heart is broken due to the current situation in the Middle East. And that’s all I wanted to express with the photo I shared.” The text accompanying the picture said, among other things, about the Palestinian children: “You are superhumans, you are angels. (…) You remind us that we live in a world with Monsters like the Israeli government cannot live safely.”

The anti-Israel text describes, among other things, Israel’s government as a “monster”.

And further: “We are not safe if the strongest countries in the world do not put an end to Israel’s inhumane activities.”

And again a few paragraphs further: “Palestine is experiencing ethnic cleansing. Israel commits war crimes every day. They kill civilians, 50 percent of whom are children. And the world watches silently and does nothing. While the media portrays Israel as a victim.”

A very questionable and one-sided text that, even if unintentionally, was still visible on the Bundesliga professional’s Instagram profile for almost 24 hours.
