Disappointing Day for Italy at Junior World Championships

Third day of the junior world championships Odivelas and for Italy, unfortunately, the first day without smiles also arrived. In fact, the three blues who stepped onto the tatami today were Bright Maddaloni Nosa, Alessandro Bellini in the 81 kg and Tommaso Fava in the 90 kg, they were stopped in the first rounds of the competition and, in any case, they did not manage to reach the final block.

“A bit of a dark day today for our boys. – commented the Azzurri’s technical staff – Bellini and Fava paid dearly for two inattentions by stopping in the first match which was certainly within their reach. Maddaloni, however, after easily passing the first round, was stopped by the strong Japanese Naoto Izawa, third in the end.

Tommaso and Alessandro were dominating their match but both were unable to maintain the right level of calm and clarity in the Golden Score, committing carelessness that was fatal. Carelessness that comes at a high price in a World Championship. It’s a different story for Bright, who after easily overtaking the Swede was unable to find the right interpretation with Izawa. Despite the regret for today’s progress, the awareness remains that all three had what it took to have a great race and reach the top of the rankings. Probably with a little more malice they would have achieved their goals. Now we focus on tomorrow’s race, which will see Carletti and Marini involved.”

Tomorrow, Saturday 7 October, fourth day with the categories F -78 kg, +78 kg and M -100 kg, +100 kg; the Azzurri: Tiziana Marini (+78), Jean Carletti (100)
