Finally, ratings fight again! On Tuesday, AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT go head-to-head.
They at WWE don’t understand jokes!
Because AEW Dynamite is running a day earlier next week due to a baseball broadcast in the regular time slot on Wednesday, there will be a TV duel with WWE NXT.
And in this direct comparison, the market leader definitely doesn’t want to lose out. The reaction: On October 10th the really big superstar guns will be brought out!
Even John Cena is coming to WWE NXT
Cody Rhodes, Asuka, Paul Heyman and even John Cena will appear in the next episode of WWE NXT.
*** John Cena supports Carmelo Hayes in a scheduled match against Bron Breakker. Hayes said on Tuesday that he received a call from Cena. Later that evening, Paul Heyman appeared on WWE NXT. He didn’t seem happy about Cena’s involvement and said he would support Bron Breakker as manager.
By the way: This will be John Cena’s first appearance on an NXT live edition. He last appeared in an NXT segment in May 2013, which was later only published on YouTube.
*** Asuka was placed as Kiana James’ hurdle: James told Roxanne Perez that she had to defeat the Japanese to get a match against her. James Perez had previously cost a possible chance for the title.
*** Meanwhile, Cody Rhodes is coming to WWE NXT in a different role. He will make a “big announcement.” The context of this “Major Announcement” is completely unclear.
It is not without a certain irony that these words are spoken in response to AEW, when Cody’s former boss Tony Khan has repeatedly made such “big announcements” in the past.
Rhodes and Khan ended their collaboration at the beginning of 2022 due to irreconcilable differences. Cody returned to WWE as a result.
AEW features title matches and Adam Copeland
Tony Khan has already announced Adam Copeland’s debut match in his promotion for Tuesday’s special edition of AEW Dynamite. The former Edge will take on Luchasaurus, the protégé of Copeland’s former tag team partner Christian Cage.
Copland debuted at the AEW pay-per-view “WrestleDream” last Sunday.
The special title “Title Tuesday” also promises several championship decisions.
What is already certain: Hikaru Shida is trying to become AEW Women’s Champion against Saraya for the third time in her career.
After the announcements at NXT, it is conceivable that Khan will follow up with more big title matches.
Who will win the odds duel?
Those interested in wrestling from all fan camps will take a close look on Wednesday next week when the ratings for the ratings duel on October 10th are published.
Which show will attract the most viewers?
NXT has the advantage of being on the regular time slot. With the addition of absolute top names like John Cena and Cody Rhodes, it would be a disgrace if the show didn’t finish ahead of AEW Dynamite in the final billing.
A guideline: In the past four weeks, WWE NXT averaged around 745,000 viewers on Tuesdays. The best was the show on September 12th with 850,000 viewers – here Becky Lynch won the NXT Women’s title from Tiffany Stratton.
AEW Dynamite averaged just over 900,000 viewers over the last four broadcasts on Wednesday. However, it seems inevitable that viewers will be lost due to the postponement to Tuesday.
There is comparable data from the previous year: NXT and Dynamite last ran head-to-head on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. On that day, NXT had 676,000 total viewers, Dynamite had 752,000.
However, WWE has generally been able to increase interest in NXT over the past few months, especially since the guest star line-up will be pushed to the limit next week.
By the way, NXT vs. Dynamite will not be the last TV duel between WWE and AEW this fall: On November 17th, AEW Collision and AEW Rampage will be shown on Fridays on the US channel TNT and will compete against SmackDown on FOX.
AEW won’t be able to win the SmackDown duel – but anything is possible next week!
