Palencia
One more year, from the hand of Dipy, the mascot of the School Games for the province of Palencia, comes the School Games program of the Palencia Provincial Council for this 2023/24 academic year.
With the aim of surpassing the good participation data of last year, the Provincial Sports Service is once again calling for the School Games, with highly demanded and established programs, as well as some new developments that are expected to be well received among the schoolchildren of the province. .
In accordance with the Order issued by the General Directorate of Sports calling for the School Games, the Provincial Council – which has delegated the functions of organizing said Games in the province – presents an offer that is divided into two large groups:
On the one hand, the Competition Program, which includes the modalities of chess, athletics, badminton, basketball, handball, cross country, indoor soccer, orienteering, rescue and first aid, table tennis and volleyball.
Within this section, and in response to the demand of schools, the Provincial Institution emphasizes athletics, basketball and handball, sports in which thousands of schoolchildren participate during almost the entire school year. On the other hand, as usual, special importance is once again given to the Non-Competitive Activities Program, which is developed with the following calendar:
– The XVI Sports Narration Contest has just been convened, the contest of this type with the most participation in Castilla y León, surpassing 2,500 entries last year.
– In the month of November, the traditional Multisport Campus will be held, in which dozens of young people will enjoy a weekend of physical activity and coexistence housed in the Castilla Youth Complex.
– In February, the second edition of the successful Sport and Culture activity will be launched, through which, in a fun atmosphere, a specific area of culture will be related to sports practice.
– In March, the already consolidated White School Week will take place, which will transport 200 students to the town of Jaca, so that they can practice the sport of skiing, for five days, in the Astún resort.
– In April, “Physical Activity Month” will be celebrated, with sports promotion days that will bring schoolchildren closer to different ways of practicing physical activity, from traditional sports modalities, other alternatives, cooperative games, dance activities, etc.
– In May, taking advantage of the arrival of spring, multi-adventure activities have been scheduled, such as the “Adventure in La Roca” activity, and the Weekend at the Sea, which for a weekend will allow schoolchildren to practice surfing in the Cantabrian Sea.
– In June, the sports season will close with the celebration of the School Olympiad, which takes place over a weekend of recreation and sports, where numerous games, performances, gymkhanas and evenings are scheduled.
– Likewise, throughout the course there will be sports promotion sessions with the collaboration of sports clubs in the province, talks on the importance of values in sports and healthy eating workshops.
– Furthermore, to complete this intense calendar, the arrival of two new activities, “Native Games in schools” and “Family Sports” aim to develop an education with a social touch, in which the little ones can share moments of sport with their families.
With the call for this program, in which a significant organizational and economic effort has been made, the aim is – above all – that the schoolchildren of the province can enjoy sport and the values it transmits, at the same time that they practice all types of physical activity.
