Thanks in part to a historic goal from exceptional talent Lamine Yamal, Spanish champions FC Barcelona avoided an away defeat, but still lost ground to leaders Real Madrid.
Yamal scored the next goal in a 2-2 (1-2) draw at second-to-last FC Granada and, at 16 years and 87 days, is now the youngest goalscorer in the history of the Primera Division.
Yamal, who also made his debut in Spain’s senior national team in September, replaced Malaga’s Fabrice Olinga, who scored in 2012 at the age of 16 years and 98 days. Bryan Zaragoza Martinez had previously given Granada the lead with a brace (1st/29th). After Yamal’s goal, Sergi Roberto (85th) secured a point for the guests, who came with national players Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Ilkay Gündogan.
Behind Real Madrid (24), who had already won 4-0 against CA Osasuna on Saturday, and surprise team FC Girona (22), Barcelona is in third place with 21 points.
