Former Anderlecht Player Questions Club’s Decision to Let Promising Protégé Join RWDM

After a stint on the RSCA Futures bench, Guillaume Gillet left Sporting Anderlecht. The former player does not understand the departure of one of his former protégés, who is already enjoying the glory days of RWDM.

Assistant to Felice Mazzu during the start of the season, Guillaume Gillet was appointed head coach of RSCA Futures in October 2022 and finished the season there. Brilliantly, moreover, since the hopes of Anderlecht more than quickly ensured their maintenance in the Challenger Pro League and even finished in the top 6.

This summer, the RWDM managed to recruit for free a former protégé of Gillet, right back Ilay Camara. The former midfielder does not understand why Anderlecht let Camara leave so quickly, and makes it known.

“He played good matches, showed good things, but the management clearly didn’t believe in him enough. It doesn’t surprise me that he managed to find a club in the Jupiler Pro League. RWDM did very well matter if they manage to cut this diamond” declared Guillaume Gillet in the columns of Evening.

There is indeed work left for the 20-year-old, but Camara is ready for it. “He’s a very hardworking person. He can’t stand losing, even in training. I see myself a little bit in him” concluded Guillaume Gillet.

This season, Ilay Camara took part in three matches for a total of 143 minutes with the RWDM. Last season, he played 26 matches for the RSCA Futures, with six assists.
