French NBA Draft Pick Bilal Coulibaly Faces Transportation Challenges in Washington

Selected in 9th position by the Washington Wizards during the 2024 NBA Draft, Frenchman Bilal Coulibaly revealed that he cannot move freely in the American capital because he does not have his license.

The transition between France and the United States is taking place gradually for the young French talent. Bilal Coulibaly, selected in 9th position in the last NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards, is gradually adapting to his American daily life, which is very different from the one he knew in France.

Asked about this during the media day of the North American basketball league, young Bilal Coulibaly explained that one of the main difficulties he encountered in Washington concerned travel.

No metro in Washington for Bilal Coulibaly

“It’s totally different! The main difference is that I can’t go anywhere because I don’t have my driving license,” he declared with a smile in front of an assembly of journalists.

“In France, I took the metro and it was easier! Here, I can’t do that,” added Bilal Coulibaly, before adding that he could count on the support of his teammates: “As soon as I need a race or something like that, my teammates pick me up by car.”

A great proof of solidarity from the Washington Wizards with one of the many French people in the big league.
