Basketball superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has extended his contract with the Milwaukee Bucks for three years shortly before the start of the new NBA season. This means that a farewell for the superstar from Milwaukee is off the table.
As his agent Alex Saratsis explained to ESPN, it is a three-year, $186 million deal. This means that the “Greek Freak” remains tied to the Bucks until 2028. However, the contract contains a player option for the 2027/28 season. The big man could change clubs as a free agent in July 2027 at the age of 32.
Two-time MVP Antetokounmpo confirmed the extension in a post on X, but did not provide any details. “MILWAUKEEEEEEEEE!!! Let’s get it!!!!”, schrieb Antetokounmpo and added the hashtag “#Extended” to his post.
The Greek has spent his entire NBA career with the Bucks; he was drafted by the franchise in 2013. The 28-year-old has been one of the best players in the world for years and led Milwaukee, which will face the Philadelphia 76ers to start the season on Friday morning (1:30 a.m. CEST), to the NBA title in 2021.
The Bucks had already made a big deal in the offseason and provided Antetokounmpo with a superstar in Damian Lillard. The point guard is also tied to the Bucks until 2027.
The team is one of the favorites for the NBA title.
