The offensive squadron of the extra-league Comets will be expanded by the young striker Jakub Kos, who will work under Špilberk on loan from the Finnish Ilves Tampere. The club informed about it on its website.

“I’m very happy that I’m returning home and to places that I know well,” says Kos, who last wore the Brno jersey as a youth player.

“I spent beautiful years in Kometa and I can’t wait to go out on the ice with the team. I know a few guys, I was often in contact with Brno, I’m not going into the unknown,” adds the native of Kuřimi.

The owner of the silver medal from the last World Junior Championships is leaving the land of a thousand lakes after four years. In Ilves, he paid the price for the overwhelming competition, even at the start of the current season, he struggled in the lower Mestis league.

How will Kos establish itself among the domestic elite? He could get the ice time needed for further development in extraleague stadiums. After all, the player himself requested the change, he is moving to the Czech Republic at his own request.

“I know a few guys, I was often in contact with Brno, I’m not going into the unknown.”

And who knows, maybe he will stay in his homeland – his current contract in Tampere expires after the season. For that reason, there is a scenario where a promising youngster asks for a permanent place in Brno.

Kos is supposed to participate in the match action next week at the earliest, they will arrive from Finland during the weekend. He will be one of the youngest players ever on the Comets’ roster.
