“He’s number one”: Kylian Mbappé, a unanimous captain of the Blues

This qualification for Euro 2024 bears two signatures. That of Didier Deschamps, coach renewed until 2026, and who was able to unite energies after a lost World Cup final. It also bears the mark of Kylian Mbappé, almost decisive in each meeting: two doubles against the Netherlands, the only goal against Greece (a penalty), another against Gibraltar, two assists (Netherlands and Ireland), a blocked shot taken by Marcus Thuram (Ireland). It was only in Dublin (0-1, goal from Benjamin Pavard) where the spark did not come.
