The Italian Jannik Sinner (No. 4 in the ATP ranking) defeated the Russian Daniil Medvedev (No. 3) by 7-6 (7), 4-6 and 6-3 to become the first tennis player from his country to be champion in the ATP 500 in Vienna.
It was an exciting final, one of the best of the season. In more than three hours of battle, the Italian was left with a more than important title in his aspiration to continue adding points to get closer to the Top 3.

The young 22-year-old player reached the figure of 10 ATP titles: Sofia (X2), Melbourne I, Washington Antwerp, Umag, Montpellier, Canada, Beijing and Vienna. As if that were not enough, he further extended the record for wins in a season for an Italian tennis player with 56.
Both will have little time to rest as they will quickly move to Paris to compete in the last Masters 1000 of the season. Medvedev will debut against the winner of the match between Grigor Dimitrov (No. 17) and Lorenzo Musetti (No. 22) and Sinner will do the same against Mackenzie McDonald (No. 42) or a player from the classification.
