Kevin De Bruyne’s absence has had a significant impact on Manchester City’s recent disappointing performances. After getting injured in the Champions League final, the Belgian missed most of the preparation. However, when he returned to action at the start of the season, he was immediately injured again.
Although his rehabilitation is going well, repeated injuries are worrying City. The Red Devil seems to be increasingly struggling with physical problems, which is not surprising given the intensive competition schedule and his age of now 32 years.
In the short term, De Bruyne is not worried about his future at City. But for the longer term, the club has plans to recruit a suitable replacement for him, with a focus on the Bundesliga.
Names such as Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala have already been mentioned, and now RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo has also been mentioned as a possible candidate by El Mundo Deportivo. FC Barcelona have shown interest in Olmo, but financially they do not seem to be able to compete with the prosperous Manchester City.
