Las Vegas leads 2-0 in the WNBA final against Marine Johannès’ New York Liberty

After their victory in Game 1 of the WNBA final (99-82), the Las Vegas Aces did it again on Wednesday by largely dominating the New York Liberty at home (104-76). The defending champions stunned Marine Johannès’ partners (3 points in 19 minutes) at the start of each half led by A’ja Wilson (26 points, 15 rebounds) and Chelsea Gray (14 points, 11 assists, 6 rebounds).

In four minutes, the Nevada franchise had already largely outdistanced its opponent (19-2). Trailing by 22 points (43-21), Liberty relied on the pugnacity of interior Jonquel Jones. The 2021 MVP snatched 19 points and 10 rebounds before the break and brought her team to within eight lengths at the end of the second quarter (52-44). But, upon returning from the locker room, the Aces did it again with an 8-0 which finished off New York.

With its two successes, Las Vegas is heading towards the title. Never in a WBNA final has a team come back from a two-zero deficit to win. See you on Sunday in Brooklyn for the third round, potentially decisive since the series is played in the best of five matches.
