LeBron James Praises Marine Johannès’ Impressive WNBA Finals Performance

LeBron James, NBA legend, raved about the performance of Frenchwoman Marine Johannès during Game 1 of the WNBA Finals on Sunday.

LeBron James stood up for a French woman. The Los Angeles Lakers star posted a message on social networks Monday to salute the great performance of Marinne Johannès (28), New York Liberty player, during Game 1 of the WNBA Finals against the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday. Until now little used during the playoffs, the guard took advantage of a little more playing time (20 minutes) to shine with 14 points scored including four impressive three-point shots.

“She has a cannon (instead of an arm)!”

And LeBron James, present in the stands, particularly appreciated it. The leading scorer in NBA history reacted to a compilation of the four long-distance baskets on social media.

“She has a cannon (instead of an arm)! Her first shot on one leg made me get up out of my seat,” LeBron said on X

The Frenchwoman responded this Tuesday morning with several emojis, illustrating her reaction which was both embarrassed and flattered. James attended the meeting with several Lakers players, before a pre-season match in the “city of Vice” against Brooklyn, scheduled for Tuesday. According to some American media, his heart was more inclined towards the Aces team in which A’ja Wilson, best defender of the season, plays, whom he nicknames his “little sister”.

This therefore did not prevent him from appreciating the performance of Marine Johannès, even if she remained silent in the second half. The Aces finally won (99-82) before the second match on Wednesday.

The French international (108 caps) joined the WNBA and the New York franchise in 2019, while remaining linked with ASVEL with whom she won the Eurocup last April.
