The general class state championships took place in Eferding (Upper Austria) last weekend. The athletes from the Leibnitz Judo Club delivered tremendously: In addition to first place, there was one silver, two bronze and one seventh place.
LEIBNITZ. What a sporty weekend. Katharina Tanzer (-48kg), who started as the favorite, more than lived up to this role and was celebrated as the 2023 state champion. She delivered a confident performance. She was on the mat for two minutes for four fights.
Lisa Tretnjak (-63kg): Lisa fought her way to the final with three Ippon victories. There, “Lullo” Lubjana Piovesana was waiting for fifth place in the 2023 World Championships. Lisa fought courageously but was left behind after a little more than two minutes against her teammate “Lullo”. “But we are happy to take second place and the runner-up title,” says Norbert Wieser happily.
Verena Hiden (-57kg) and Samuel Lamm (-90kg) were also able to demonstrate: Verena, who recently took 7th place at the World Championships (U21), was evident from the long season. She started off very tired and somewhat exhausted. Verena finally took third place with three wins and one defeat – one more medal in her already very extensive medal collection.
European Cup ticket in your pocket
Now it’s time to take a break, recharge the batteries and get back into full training at the beginning of November – preparing for your first season in the general class.
Samuel brought great joy to the Leibnitz Judo Club. The 18-year-old fought sensationally and finally took third place after four wins and one defeat. Samuel now has tickets for the U21 European Cup 2024 in his pocket.
Jessica Fiala (-48) was a second starter alongside Kathi Tanzer in the -48kg weight class. Jessica fought very courageously and took an excellent 7th place. The goal is a medal in 2024.
The judo team of the Sportunion Noricum Raiffeisenbank Leibnitz fought a sensational state championship. The five starters won one gold, one silver, two bronze and one 7th place – all in all a top result.
Conclusion: “The work of the trainers Philipp Ackerl, Hubert Rohrauer and Gernot Wenzel – simply leaves a great mark,” emphasizes Wiesner.
Kathi and Lisa are already back at the training camp in Markarska (CRO) where Kathi is getting the finishing touches for the European Championships in France and Lisa is preparing for the European Championships u23.
