Liudmila Samsonova will play for her biggest career title tomorrow
The third 1000 title for Elena Rybakina in the 2023 season will be nothing. The Kazakh has already succeeded in Indian Wells and Rome this year, and in Beijing Rybakina now had to lose in the semi-finals with 6:7 (7) and 3: 6 beaten. Samsonova will face Iga Swiatek in the final tomorrow.
The Pole held her own in the first semi-final against Coco Gauff with 6:2 and 6:3, thus ending the American’s winning streak of 16 matches.
If you go by the previous games between Swiatek and Samsonova, then the Pole is the favorite. Swiatek prevailed both this year in Dubai (very smoothly) and in 2022 at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart (very close). For Liudmila Samsonova it is about the fifth and biggest title of her career. This season she was already in the final of a 1000 in Montreal, but had to admit defeat to Jessica Pegula.
