Löwen Frankfurt with a successful series

Audio End of audio post

The Lions Frankfurt are currently on course for a spectacle. The past games have all been goal festivals. 5:3 against Schwenningen, 7:3 at Düsseldorfer EG and on Sunday a cracking 6:2 against the Nuremberg Ice Tigers. The Lions are particularly good offensively. And the chances are good that the ice rink will be full again in the next game, on Friday against the Kölner Haie (7.30 p.m.).

That wasn’t the case in the win against Nuremberg. With 4,248 fans, there were unusually few fans in the hall for the Lions. But there were two reasons for that: firstly, the consistently good weather in Hesse, but above all, the fact that their big neighbor, Eintracht Frankfurt, played parallel to the Lions in the Bundesliga against Heidenheim in the Frankfurt stadium and won.

Many Lions fans also go to Eintracht and vice versa. But those who didn’t come to the ice rink missed something. Because the Lions are currently turning things around after a false start to the season. Three wins in a row speak for themselves.

Hailed start to the season, good series of successes

The Lions’ start to the season was anything but successful. There were four defeats in the first six matches of this season, including quite unexpected ones like the 2:3 at the start against Iserlohn. But the dent has bulged.

In the 6-2 win against Nuremberg, Maksim Matushkin and Joseph Cramarossa were once again the guarantors of success for Frankfurt. Matushkin scored twice for the third time this season, while Cramarossa had two assists and a goal. Thanks to their success, the Lions climbed to eighth place in the table.

And perhaps the next goal spectacle will be seen on Friday in the home game against the Kölner Haie. A few more spectators will definitely come. Although the weather in Hesse remains warm in late summer, its big neighbor Eintracht Frankfurt is not playing at the same time this time. In contrast to ice hockey, the Bundesliga has an international break.
