American actress Meryl Streep is already in Oviedo to receive next Friday the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts 2023 in a ceremony presided over by the kings of Spain that will be held at the Campoamor Theater.
Although the official reception for the winner by the Princess of Asturias Foundation is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, the protagonist of “The Bridges of Madison” arrived after 9:00 this morning at the Hotel de la Reconquista accompanied by one of his brothers.
With hardly any audience, Streep greeted the few people gathered in front of the main door of the hotel before entering inside, where the director of the Princess Foundation, Teresa Sanjurjo, was waiting for her.
Like other winners in previous editions, the actress had requested that the Foundation have a few free hours before starting tomorrow her agenda linked to the delivery of the Princess Awards which, apart from the official welcome, includes a meeting with a representation of the students who have participated in a cultural program inspired by their career.
The actress with the most nominations in the history of the Oscars will also attend the Oviedo Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses in the afternoon where she will hold a meeting with the public in which some of the more than two thousand people attending will be able to ask her questions about her job in a talk called “Without a script” in which she will be accompanied by the Spanish actor Antonio Banderas.
