Milan Vader (Jumbo-Visma) scored a double blow on Sunday during the fourth stage of the Tour of Guangxi (161.4 km between Nanning and Nongla), in China. The Dutch runner, who attacked 400 meters from a finish which was judged at the top of a hill whose percentages exceeded 20% in the final, won with two seconds ahead of the Frenchman Rémy Rochas ( Cofidis) and eight of what remained of the peloton.
And, thanks to this stage victory, won at the end of the effort in front of Rochas finishing with a bang but leaving a little late, Vader moved to the top of the general classification, in place of the Belgian Dries De Bondt (Alpecin -Deceuninck). He is ahead of Rochas by six seconds, the Briton Hugh Carthy (EF Education-EasyPost) by 14 and another Tricolor, Louis Barré (Arkéa), by 17.
The Tour of Guangxi will end on Tuesday and a priori only the fifth stage, contested on Monday and where the peloton will go through two difficult climbs around thirty kilometers from the finish, could upset the general classification.
