Motocross WC stage will be held in Latvia for at least three more years

The motocross stage of the World Championship in the MXGP class will be held in Latvia for three more seasons in a row, the organizers of the competition announced on Wednesday. The new agreement, which provides that the MXGP stage in Latvia will take place from 2024 to 2026.

“It is an honor to host such an event. We also hope that one day the Nations Cup will return to Latvia,” Mārtiņš Lazdovskis, president of the Latvian Motorsport Federation (LaMSF), was quoted in the announcement, adding that excellent cooperation with the International Motorsport Federation (FIM) and “Infront Moto Racing” has been established over the years.

In the last season in Latvia, Tomas Šileika ranked 21st in the MXGP class, while Jānis Mārtiņš Reišulis won the second place in the EMX125 class and Kārlis Alberts Reišulis took the fourth place in the EMX250 class.

The MXGP stage has been taking place in Ķegum since 2009, but in 2014 the Ķegum track also hosted the Nations Cup competition.
