Italian champions Napoli suffered their second defeat of the season in Serie A and thus lost touch with the Milan top duo. In the home game against Fiorentina, the defending champions lost 3-1 on Sunday evening. Napoli, fifth in the table, is five points behind second-placed Inter after eight rounds and already seven behind leaders Milan. Fiorentina moved up to fourth place.
Victor Osimhen equalized for the southern Italians with a penalty shortly before half-time. Fiorentina went ahead again through Giacomo Bonaventura (63′), and Nicolas Gonzalez made the decision in stoppage time.
AS Roma won 4-1 at bottom team Cagliari thanks to a brace from Belgian national team player Romelu Lukaku. Coach Jose Mourinho can take a deep breath for now. The Romans improved to tenth place in the table. Lukaku and Belgium will face Austria in the European Championship qualifiers in Vienna on Friday.
