Naranjeros of Hermosillo Defeat Yaquis of Obregón in Mexican Baseball Fiesta

Mesa, United States (Prensa Naranjeros).-The Naranjeros of Hermosillo beat the Yaquis of Obregón three runs to two this Sunday at the conclusion of the Mexican Baseball Fiesta in Mesa, Arizona.

The Yaquis scored first when in the first inning Efrén Navarro hit an RBI single to center field against José Samayoa allowing Kevin Villavicencio to score the run of the pool in favor of Obregón, Alfredo Hurtado with a hit drove in the second score that was scored by Jake Gatewood for give the tribe a 2-0 lead.

Naranjeros responded and at the close of the first chapter José Cardona began the attack against Jesús Franco with a double to the center field and Agustín Murillo with a single to right field produced the first score for the Orange Squad to shorten the difference on the scoreboard, Murillo later cheated the second and with a double down the line to left field Andrés Sosa produced Murillo to make the score 2-2.

Hermosillo took the lead in the bottom of the second inning when Emiliano Valencia scored when, on a bad throw by the catcher while trying to throw out Adolfo Valdez at second, he took advantage to score Naranjeros’ third run in the game.

José Samayoa left the game after pitching two innings where he allowed two runs and four hits. He was relieved by Kenneth Sigman who began his work allowing a triple by Kevin Villavicencio, but then dominated his next three rivals to score zero in the episode.

The left-hander from Hermosillo, Omar Cruz, prospect of the Pittsburgh Pirates, came on in relief for Hermosillo in the fourth inning and fulfilled his duties in the center of the diamond without allowing any scores in that chapter.

Raúl Barrón stepped up to the plate in the fifth inning and faced four opponents without allowing a score to maintain the one-run lead in favor of Hermosillo.

The right-hander Christopher Lozoya, prospect of the Arizona Diamondbacks, was the one who took over for Naranjeros in the sixth and managed to retire two thirds, leaving two runners for inheritance for the left-hander Cristian Garza who with a pitch dominated the batter with a ground ball to third base to force the out and end the threat of the Cajeme tribe.

Garza continued in the center of the diamond in the seventh and struck out his three rivals to maintain the Orange advantage in the score.

The young Diego Galúe took over for Hermosillo in the eighth, the left-hander managed to dominate the tribe’s offense to continue the good performance of the Naranjero relief team.

Looking for the last three thirds, José Rolando Mora took over, the right-hander from Hermosillo retired the three rivals in order to finish the game.

Naranjeros will travel to Tucson again to continue their preseason training this Monday, the next game that the Orange Squad will play will be next Wednesday, October 4, facing the Yaquis again, but now at the Copper King Stadium in Douglas, Arizona.
