Asunción, IP Agency.-The activity took place at the National Sports Secretariat Complex at the initiative of Special Olympics Paraguay.
More than 600 athletes from 20 educational institutions in the republic took part in the sports event.
The opening ceremony was led by Sports Minister César Ramírez, who highlighted the importance of the event.
“Our athletes who gather here today will be those who will represent us in the great event of the Special Olympics Latin American Games Asunción 2024,” recalled the secretary of state.
Likewise, Claudia Etcheverry, Regional Director of Special Olympics Latin America, highlighted the excitement of being able to celebrate the event of this magnitude and all with the support of the institutions involved.
Competitions were held in the disciplines of athletics, FIFA Futsal, 3×3 basketball, rhythmic gymnastics, tennis, swimming and speed skating.
The Capital 2023 Regional Unified Games will continue this Thursday with the development of athletics, FIFA Futsal, badminton, artistic gymnastics, taekwondo, tennis and bocce competitions.
The first lady of the nation Leticia Ocampos accompanied the activity and shared with the athletes.
