Good afternoon everybody. In just over an hour, Portugal and Slovakia face each other during the qualifying phase for Euro 2024, which will be held in Germany next summer.
Portugal leads group J with an iron fist with six wins in six games, 24 goals for and 0 against. That is, an average of four goals for per game and 0 against. On average they win each game 4-0. Winning today would practically seal their classification since, in the worst case scenario, they would be 8 points ahead of third-placed Luxembourg.
Slovakia is in second position in the group with 13 points, 5 behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal. They do very well for the classification since they lead Luxembourg by three points. However, a defeat for Slovakia today combined with a Luxembourg victory would mean that both teams would tie, with Slovakia being ahead with the goal average. Slovakia is +6 and Luxembourg -9.
