PSSI Supports Saudi Arabia in Bidding for 2045 World Cup, Disappointing Indonesia’s Hopes for 2034 Co-Hosting

tvOnenews.com – PSSI has finally taken a stand on the bidding to host the 2034 World Cup. Through its official website, PSSI provides support for Saudi Arabia to advance in the bidding to host the 2045 World Cup.

This decision is also the opposite of what Indonesia wants, namely to be part of co-hosting the 2034 World Cup with Australia.

Interestingly, foreign media Gamesbids highlighted Indonesia’s actions. Indonesia is said to be able to become ‘kingmakers’ in the bidding process to host the 2034 World Cup.

Kingmaker means a party who has great influence in making someone a leader or winner.

This shift in support is said to be a blow to Australia. Considering the large influence of Indonesia, the announcement of PSSI’s position is a big encouragement for Saudi Arabia.

Initial bidding will be open until October 31. However, until now only Saudi Arabia has officially registered a bid with FIFA.
