While Rafael Nadal desperately fights to return to competition in the coming months, Novak Djokovic, a year younger, still finds himself at the top of the tennis world. Now the record holder for Grand Slam titles won, the Serbian was also entitled to some very nice comments from the Spaniard.
The more the weeks pass, the more the chances of seeing Rafael Nadal return to the top level diminish. Always armed with his inimitable work ethic, the man who has won Roland-Garros 14 times (!) is nevertheless forced to limit himself to the role of observer for the moment. The opportunity for him to talk about a certain Novak Djokovic.
Rafael Nadal bows to Djokovic
A few days after the Spaniard’s small tackle on the Serb, with a very classy response from “Djoker” to the keyNadal took advantage of a stint at the microphone of EFE Sports to tip the hat to his rival. Better, and rare, he admitted to being downright surprised by what the native of Belgrade achieved:
INTERVIEW | Nadal: “I didn’t imagine that Djokovic could win three Grand Slams this year.”
???? The Balearic tennis player, winner of 22 Grand Slams, gave an interview to Agencia EFE in which he admits that he was surprised by Djokovic’s performance.

At the end of the day, we all know that Djokovic is who he is, and that he has achieved something historic, something that has never been achieved before. We can only congratulate him. But I must say that it surprised me. I imagined him winning Grand Slams this season, but I didn’t imagine he could win three, because the younger generation is very powerful.
After mentioning this famous new young guard, the “Bull of Manacor” also wanted to praise Carlos Alcaraz, whom he had already congratulated following his coronation at Wimbledon. And it is with as much pride as ever that Rafa, eternal standard of fair play, evokes his compatriot:
Alcaraz had a great opportunity to accomplish something great at Roland Garros, but what happened to him happened to him, unfortunately. But then he caught up at Wimbledon and achieved something historic for our sport.
Is this a way of bowing to Novak Djokovic? In any case, Rafael Nadal’s reverential remarks demonstrate the great respect and, let’s say it, the admiration he has for the Serb in view of his incredible performances. A media release which should give the greatest pleasure to the main party!
