“Hoooostiiiiii, Hoooostiiiiii!!!” Even today, fans in the Wiener Stadthalle chant annually about Horst Skoff – who won the tournament in 1988 in a dramatic final against Thomas Muster.

Horst Skoff was considered the “enfant terrible” of the tennis tour throughout his career. A difficult character, on the one hand extremely empathetic and sensitive, on the other hand an absolute charmer. Undisputed: Horst Skoff’s games were always exciting, at least when he was physically at his best.

With 18th place, Skoff achieved his highest ranking in 1990 and ended up winning four tournaments – a successful career, of course, but somehow not enough for a man with this feeling for the ball. And that hammer forehand!

Horst Skoff polarized!

Of course, Skoff cultivated his image as the “rock star” of the tour, a counterpoint to the hard worker Thomas Muster; the rivalry between the two (and personal dislike) began in their youth.

“Horst Skoff: More than a rock star” now traces the life of the cheerful Carinthian. Publisher Egon Theiner and Skoff friend Gernot Fleiss-Cianciabella have created a memorial for Skoff here and present many facets and insights into Skoff’s life. They also have their say Skoff’s ex-colleagues Thomas Muster, Gilbert Schaller, Alex Antonitsch, his ex-girlfriend (and former Miss World) Ulla Weigersdorfer and Günter Bresnik, whose own coaching career began with Skoff – and who would probably have taken a completely different path in life without Horsti.

This is how you win the Skoff biography!

tennisnet and EGOTH-Verlag are now giving away four books about the tennis legend! What do you have to do for it? Comment on Facebook what impressed you about Horsti, what stuck with you about him or which match you were really excited about. With a bit of luck you’ll be one of the winners!

If you’re not lucky, the book is of course also available in bookstores – and ideally directly from the publisher!
