River’s 2011 category was crowned champion in “The Football Games”, a sort of children’s Club World Cup in which they beat Real Madrid in the semis and Flamengo in the final.

River’s children’s divisions have been making headlines recently. The fact is that the smaller categories of youth football have been carrying out great campaigns, both with regard to the AFA championships and the Professional League championships. It is leading the general table of both competitions, it is the team with the most goals and the fewest goals in Argentine soccer, all this respecting the historical style of the institution. It’s nice to see them play.

After winning the local titles that come from winning the 2011 and 2012 categories in AFA and in the Metro League the 2014, 2015 and 2016 high schools, there was a category that traveled abroad to represent the River shirt and did so in the best way, in light of the results. This is the 2011 category directed by Hernán Palermo and which this Saturday morning added a new Olympic lap, far from home.

River’s 2011 team was crowned champion in “The Footbal Games”, an international competition that took place in Cancun, Mexico. It is a kind of children’s Club World Cup that brought together the most important teams from Europe and South America, in addition to the Mexican teams. And the millionaire boys ended up making the Olympic turn after beating Flamengo 3 to 1 in an unforgettable final.

Hernán Palermo’s team reached this final with Fla with their chests inflated and no wonder: In the semi-final that was played in the last hour of Friday, they beat and surpassed Real Madrid by the same score: 3 to 1. River’s 2011 season had already dispatched several European teams: he beat Sevilla in his debut, he also beat Atlético Madrid and clearly beat Inter Milan and Villarreal of Spain.

This way, River’s 2011 category closed a brilliant performance in Cancun, with six wins, no draws and no losses. He scored 17 goals and only scored 2 in six games.. In addition, Jorge Sosa received the award for the best player and scorer of the competition, while Rodolfo Durante was awarded as the best goalkeeper of the championship.

The 2011 celebrations in Cancun

River’s 2011 category comes from achieving the two-time AFA soccer championship, but this Saturday they had the pleasure of winning their first international title. It adds to the championship that 2012 achieved this same 2023 in Italy, in the Pulcino d’Oro competition.
