The 2023 Major League Baseball Season brought many surprises with it, among them the dominance that teams like the Texas Rangers showed throughout the regular season. What is certain is that the ninth Texan would not have been the same without the help of their rookie sensation: Evan Carter.

At just 21 years of age, the Rangers center fielder has managed to put up numbers that no other player had been able to in just his first games in the best baseball in the world.

The native of Elizabethton, Tennessee was called up to the Texas big team in the final stretch of the schedule, after the ninth’s most productive bat, Adolis García, was sent to the 10-day disabled list after suffering a tendon strain right patellar.

Thus, on September 8, Carter debuted with the Rangers at Globe Life Field against the Oakland Athletics, leaving from then until the end of the season a record of .306 batting average with five home runs, 12 RBIs, three stolen bases and 1,058 OPS in 62 at-bats, being a fundamental piece in getting his club’s ticket to the playoffs.

And although it seemed that the left-handed hitter had already shown everything, the best came in the postseason, when he managed to get on base in each of his first four games in that instance, which represented a new record for a rookie in Major League Baseball ( MLB).

But that wasn’t all, Carter also managed to reach base in each of his first six at-bats in the playoffs (the second-longest streak in the Majors) and became the youngest Rangers player to hit a home run in October (also he was the second rookie to do so); to mention just some of the marks that he has achieved so far and not counting his great attempts in the outfield.

Before starting the American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros, the rookie has a robust .429 batting average with one home run, three RBIs, a stolen base and a 1.476 OPS in 14 official at-bats.
