As part of the Le Festif! at the School, Sara Dufour visited 4 schools in the Laurentians from October 17 to 19. L’Info had the privilege of speaking to the artist following her visit to the Polyvalente des Monts de Sainte-Agathe.

Despite growing visibility and ever-increasing commitments, Sara Dufour believes that it is important to continue to invest in young people. “Meeting young people sometimes “grounds” us in real life,” mentions the singer of “Semi-route, semi-trail”.

Inspired by everyday life

During her visits to schools, Sara Dufour uses personal anecdotes to put into context the few songs she performs. She talks in particular about her school career and the difficulties she experienced along the way. “We don’t know what the future holds. It’s important to do all the steps well to one day be able to realize your dreams,” she thinks.

As for her favorite song among young people, Sara says without hesitation: “Baseball! It tells about my life when I was young, school, dodgeball games, all things that give them images. They know what I’m talking about, it’s sometimes very funny.

The singer-songwriter appreciates this platform which also allows her to open young people to a musical universe different from the one they know. “Young people are very inclined towards English-speaking music, it’s fun to arrive with songs by a girl who comes from Quebec. But also to show young girls that you don’t have to dress sexy to practice this profession. We can show a different image from what they are used to with the hypersexualization to which they are exposed. You can demonstrate self-confidence by being yourself,” says Sara Dufour.

Express your passion

The artist evokes moments of questioning during his journey to the school of song. At some point, she realized that she didn’t write like others and wondered if she really belonged. Until she realized that her difference would become her strength in the music industry.
“If you have a passion, if you are good at something, there is a good chance that there will be a job attached to it. It’s important to love what you’re going to do in life. If you do what you love, the difficult times seem much easier in those days. Listen to the little voice you have inside,” suggests Sara Dufour to conclude.

The Festive!

The Festive! À l’École consists of a series of meetings that allow students to meet several established artists, to familiarize themselves with the profession of singer-songwriter and to get involved in the cultural life of their community. This year, the Festif! à l’École featured 23 artists who will perform in 80 primary and secondary schools spread across 14 different regions of Quebec.
