The Evolution of Quentin Halys: From Facing Fear to Believing in Victory

Current 76th player in the world and facing Andrey Rublev this Sunday in the second round of the Masters 1000 in Shanghai, Quentin Halys looked back on the evolution of his career in a recent podcast broadcast by our colleagues at Tennis Legend.

Returning in particular to his first match at Roland‐Garros in 2015 against Rafael Nadal, the native of Bondy explained how this meeting had served him for the future.

“That match was a little useful to me afterwards, because I was really afraid of getting in jail, and the next time when I played Djokovic, it was gone, and I entered on the court thinking stupidly, or not, that I could hit it, I felt capable of it before entering the court which was not at all the case against Nadal where I really entered the court saying to myself : ‘you’re going to get cut anyway, try to get a decent score.’ So the next time, even when I played very strong guys, each time I believed in it. And this is what has changed a little compared to after Nadal. »
