The Legacy of Antropov: Olympic Champion and Coaching Successes

Antropov, who was born in Kazakhstan, played for “Radiotehniķas” from 1972 to 1978, and then also managed this team as a coach. He also managed the “Ozolnieki” team in Latvia, but worked abroad in Croatia, Slovakia, Russia and Japan.

As part of the USSR national team, Antropov became the Olympic champion in 1968 and a year later won a bronze medal in the World Cup. He is also the winner of the European Cup Winners’ Cup and the European Cup Winners’ Cup.

At the end of the eighties, the junior teams of the USSR led by Antropov won the European and world junior championships.
