The Port of Tarragona sets its short-term sustainable goals |

The Port of Tarragona (Spain) has established its short-term sustainability goals in a conference titled “Port Tarragona Rumbo EcoPort2027: the sustainable future of the Port on the horizon 2027”. This event, which takes place today, October 10, at the Robert Palace in Barcelona, is being organized by the General Directorate of Diffusion of the Department of the Presidency of the Generalitat of Catalonia.

During the conference, the president of the Port of Tarragona, Saül Garreta, will share the progress and projects that the port is developing in its commitment to becoming a benchmark for sustainability in the port field. The presentation will focus on the strategic vision and the specific projects that the Tarragona enclave has planned to achieve the objectives of its “Ecoport2027” initiative. In addition, the challenges and opportunities related to reducing the carbon footprint, energy efficiency and the adoption of innovative technologies in the port sector will be addressed.

The conference will highlight the importance of environmental protection and conservation in all port operations, as well as the role that the Catalan port plays in this context and how it is preparing to face future challenges.

In fact, the port of Tarragona aims to completely eliminate its carbon footprint by 2030 and has developed a sustainability plan that includes a series of environmental objectives in key areas such as water, air, biodiversity, management of waste, the circular economy, the automation of processes and infrastructures.

After Saül Garreta’s presentation, a question and answer session will be held to give attendees the opportunity to delve into the details of the plans and strategies of the port of Tarragona on its path towards sustainability.

An improvement successfully carried out at the Tarragona facilities is the beginning of supervision flights using drones carried out last September. The first pilots certified for these tasks have used the devices acquired a few months ago to carry out these flights, which will contribute to strengthening security at their facilities.
