The Uncertain Timeline for Aaron Rodgers’ Return to the New York Jets

Although Aaron Rodgers is still aiming for a return to action with the New York Jets this season, the veteran quarterback made statements Tuesday that risk dampening the enthusiasm of some of his supporters.

During his most recent participation in Pat McAfee Showon ESPN, Rodgers was less enthusiastic than in his previous outings.

“Let’s slow our engines down a little bit on this,” Rodgers said.

The 38-year-old fired a few passes at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, on the sidelines of his club’s victory against the Philadelphia Eagles.

This new step in his fitness came just a few weeks after he went under the knife for a torn Achilles tendon that occurred on the Jets’ first offensive sequence of the season.

Rodgers conceded that his rehabilitation is progressing well, and even better than the initial timeline suggested.

However, he insisted that no specific date for a potential return to play can be circled for the injury which usually takes nine months to heal.

“We’re getting a little too far ahead (speculating on dates),” Rodgers insisted. These are just indicators that things are progressing well. You’ve seen me walk without the aid of crutches, since throwing on the field. Another step will be jogging. The next one will probably be a pre-match warm-up, then a training session. Each of these crucial steps will take time. »

Without Rodgers, New York is 3-3 with former 2nd overall pick Zach Wilson behind center.

The Jets will return to action on October 29 on neutral ground against the New York Giants (1-5).
