A nine-year-old boy was found on Friday in respiratory arrest in his room in Châtillon (Hauts-de-Seine). The child died during the night from Sunday to Monday at the Kremlin-Bicêtre hospital (Val-de-Marne). An investigation was opened by the Nanterre public prosecutor’s office.

• The boy found inanimate by his brother

According to his father contacted by BFMTV, the man indicates that it was the little boy’s 11-year-old brother who found him unconscious in his room when he had to go to judo training with him, around 20 hours.

Before help arrived, he had performed cardiac massage on his little brother. The father adds that he and his wife were absent at the time of the tragedy. According to his father, the child was found with a kimono belt around his neck and around the handle of his bedroom window with a small head injury.

An autopsy in progress

Actu 17, which revealed the information on Monday, indicated that the child was found hanged. However, the boy’s father told BFMTV that his son was not hanged when his brother found him. He nevertheless suggests that the child could potentially have practiced the “scarf game”.

The exact circumstances of the child’s death have not yet been determined. Investigations and autopsy of the body are underway.

• The victim had no “apparent problem”

Contacted by BFMTV, the child’s father said that he was happy, with no apparent problems. To the knowledge of those close to him, the young boy would not have suffered any situations of harassment and had no problems at school.

The open investigation was entrusted to the Montrouge police station.

• Two psychological cells were opened

After this tragedy, two psychological cells were set up. National Education psychologists intervened in the boy’s school, located at the Gambetta school, in CM1, in Châtillon, in order to help the young students.

The municipality has, for its part, set up a psychological telephone support unit available to everyone. In a message published on her social networks, Nadège Azzaz, the mayor of Châtillon, clarified that “there is no point in speculating”, while providing her support to the family.
